[Polygamy] Mormons observe day of fasting
Mormons observe a church-wide day of fasting and prayer, seeking God's intervention on their behalf. Church leaders issue an appeal to the nation for greater understanding and tolerance. President Woodruff was "viewed by some of his colleagues as a better fisherman than administrator ..." (Van Wagoner, 1986, pp. 138-139.) (3)
