[Anointed Quorum] Sunday prayer circle meeting at 4 p.m. of "the Quorum" in upper room of Joseph Smith's store; anointing and endowment for Samuel H. Smith, and Joseph Smith gave instructions (HC, JS-F, MAQ, MHBY, WW). (1)

Kirtland, Ohio. After Orson Hyde read aloud a letter of complaint to the Prophet, Joseph Smith explained the objections he had set forth in it, and satisfied his mind upon every point, perfectly. (2)

[Smoot Hearings] The committee meets at 10:00 a.m. Present Senators Burrows, Dubois, McComas, Overman, Pettus, and Smoot, with attorneys Richards, Tayler, Van Cott, and Worthington. Jackson continues; Nicholson and Hickman are recalled. The committee recesses from 12:55 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Charles W. Penrose testifies. Ellis is recalled, followed by William Budge and John Henry Smith. The committee adjourns at 4:30 p.m. (3)
