[Frank Evans] President Smith came to me with a letter from Joseph F. Smith, former Patriarch, in which a request was made for financial aid. After discussion of the matter, President Smith asked that the requested funds should be sent on a monthly basis up to March 1, and he asked me to outline a letter for the signature of the First Presidency and a different one for his own signature so that he might elect as to which should be signed. This was promptly attended to.
