This address and the circular letter which follows it under a date of May 9, 1893 both have to do primarily with the righteousness and worthiness of those who wished to and did attend the dedicatory services of the Salt Lake Temple on April 6, 1893. The address called for a complete re-dedication of the Saints to the principles of the Gospel including the spirit of forgiveness for all past wrongs, discords, etc., before attending the services. The circular letter of May 9, 1893 indicates that the provisions of the address had not been carried out in many cases and that persons were given recommends by the Bishops to attend the services who were not worthy and had not complied with the instructions of March 18th. The letter of May 9, 1893 called for disfellowshipment or excommunication of those who attended the services unworthily who would not now repent. ...
