[President Heber J. Grant Diary] Went to the temple at 10 o'clock and attended the regular temple meeting of the Presidency and Apostles. Remained until after the prayer circle and made my report and then withdrew. I told the brethren that I was not ready or willing to recommend Hyrum G. Smith's boy to be the Presiding Patriarch. I would like the brethren to be a unit in recommending him, and if they did maybe I would consent to his being put in, but I could not sign my name conscientiously to having him for our Patriarch. We have had a vacancy for ten years in the office of Patriarch, and I think it is all wrong. I think I should have insisted that we unite on someone other than Hyrum G.'s son, seeing that I did not feel impressed to appoint him.
