Bishop Hunter called in for counsel about having dances in the Ward School houses. The President [Brigham Young] told him they could have Some dancing, provided the B[isho]ps would see there was no drinking going, and the B[isho]ps should refrain from drinking themselves, and should in every case refuse it when offered to them by any of the Members of their wards. If the Bishops saw any of them with a jug of whiskey in their hands they should smash it.
