I returned to Salt Lake Tuesday, Jan[uary]. 31, and found that the Salt Lake Tribune had published a special dispatch from Logan [Utah] wherein it was charged that Elder [J.] Golden Kimball and myself had defended and advocated the principle of polygamy at the Cache conference. [Because of sensitivities during the Smoot hearings, they publish the notes of the conference in the Deseret News to demonstrate they had not talked about polygamy.]
