... Elder J[ohn]. W. Taylor reported his labors in Colorado. ... The brethren were well received and invited to call again. A number had become interested, attended the Conference, and at the close forty-five were baptized. Some of them had been very bitter towards the Saints and wept like children at the water's edge. Taylor took up a labor with them and they confessed their wrong and asked forgiveness. The people of Antonite had invited him to come and preach to them, offering the meeting house at that place. He went there, but they failed to obtain the meeting house, and they asked if he would consent to preach in a saloon. He replied that if the Savior could afford to preach in hell, he could afford to preach in a saloon. ... Bro[ther]. Taylor testified that the hearts of the people had been softened towards the Saints at home and abroad, in fulfillment of the prophecy uttered by Pres[ident]. Woodruff at the dedication of the Temple. ...
