I had a long talk with him [George F. Richards] and he is very anxious that I nominate someone to be the Patriarch of the Church. He feels that a mistake has been made in waiting ten long years since Brother Hyrum G. Smith died. I assured him that I had made up my mind to appoint some person to the position. He expressed his pleasure and assured me that whomever I named he would heartily support.
