[Heber J. Grant to Moses Thatcher]
Moses Thatcher Esq.
Logan Utah
Dear Brother:
Will you do me the favor of learning from Bro Merrill and the other members of the Logan Temple Corporation Directors, that is one or two of them whether they heard Angus M. Cannon say that his brother George Q. told him that he should have pulled my coattail.
It certainly looks to me as though someone had told a lie over this little matter and I would like to 'nail it.'
Erastus has informed George Q. that Grant, Thatcher & Lyman lacked confidence in him and that Grant had called him a liar. George declines to act on any Committee until these matters are all straightened up. I want us one and all to have the moral courage to tell all we have in our hearts against George Q. when this matter comes up again and not say we are satisfied with his explanations unless we are. I am ashamed of my part of the acceptance of his explanations on the John Q. matter. Come prepared to say all you wish to, and let us hope & pray that George Q. can straighten out matters so that we will have confidence in him hereafter and if he can't that we will say so. With assurances of confidence & esteem, I remain, Your Brother in the Gospel, Heber J. Grant
Be prepared to come down a day or two in advance of our meeting as I am inclined to think Prest Woodruff will want a meeting with us.
