[Hosea Stout]
At 2 oclock The council met again on Daniel Russells case. It appeared that he had went to President Harris for council & he told him how to confess humbly and then with dray[w] from the council as the best means to save his credit which he agreed to do but today when he was called on to do it he partly confessed but did not say anything about withdrawing from the council and so President Harris manifested his dissatisfaction at what Russell had said and signafied that it was not in conformity to his previous council whereupon the council called upon him to declare to them what his council was which he did and an on being closely pressed he also declared him unqualified to sit in council as he had lost his privy members & was an eunech.

This threw a new shade on the case and the council hardly knew what to do. The cas was argued considerably on both sides but no decision given and so that matter rested for the present. But Russell said not one word on that subject and afterwards we went on with our reports on his case untill time to adjourn
