Council met in Temple. Several questions were disposed of Choosing two men to fill va[can]cies in Twelve and one va[canc]y in 7 pres[idents] of Seven[ty]. Each man wrote names on slip of paper and given to Bro[ther] F[ranklin]. D. Richards. Pres[idents]. [Wilford] Woodruff [George Q.] Cannon [Joseph F.] Smith & [Lorenzo] Snow retired to pres[ident's]. room. recess ... until 2 p.m. Met again. Names submitted of pres[ident's]. choice which were _______ I was much disappointed but prayed God would reconcile me which he did altho' I felt almost rebellious for a few minutes, but Thank God He gave me grace.

[Wilford Woodruff announced that Elders Matthias F. Cowley and Abraham Owen Woodruff had been chosen to fill the vacancies in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Jos[eph]. W. McMurrin to the Seventy].
