[D and C] Doctrine and Covenants 108: Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, December 26, 1835. HC 2: 345. This section was received at the request of Lyman Sherman, who had previously been ordained a high priest and a seventy, and who had come to the Prophet with a request for a revelation to make known his duty.
1-3, Lyman Sherman forgiven of his sins; 4-5, He is to be numbered with the leading elders of the Church; 6-8, He is called to preach the gospel and strengthen his brethren. (2)

[Apostle Heber J. Grant Diary] [New York] I had a long chat with Brother John W. Young today. He said that he felt hurt at my remark last night that I would not care to loan him money from the funds of the State Bank. I told him that I could not take back what I had said, that while I considered him an honest man at the same time that I felt that he was constantly undertaking more than his means would justify and therefore I had not that confidence in the success of his undertakings that I wished I had, or which would inspire me enough so that I would loan him means from a bank where I was really holding the funds in trust for others. (3)
