[Thomas A. Clawson] "Went to the Bureau [of Information, Temple Square] at 8 45 A.M. and from there to the Temple Fast Meeting at 10 A.M. At 2 P.M. went to Fast meeting in the Chapel and at 7 30 P.M. attended the conjoint MIA Meeting in the Chapel. THere was a splendid spirit present at all meetings especially at the Temple where many testimonies were born concerning Oliver Cowdry and his labors in the Church. Prest Jos. F. Smith said that one of our Church historians has been almost persuaded that Oliver had been deceiving the people in his statement concerning [p. 79] the Coming of John the Baptist and ordaining Joseph and him to the Aaronic Priesthood. The President said that these words which are reported to have been said by Oliver were put into his mouth by his enemenies (Sic) and his coming humbly back and applying for admission to the Church branded as false such statements."
