John C. Bennett makes a deal with Simeon Francis (Sangamo Journal editor) in Springfield, IL to write a series of letters detailing alleged crimes of Joseph Smith, in return for a guarantee of publishing the letters in full (NY Herald, July 26, 1842, p.2)
