[Apostle Anthon H. Lund Diary] "In the afternoon I received a telegram from Pres[iden]t Jos[eph] F. Smith. There was also one from Pres[iden]t Peterson when I saw this I feared that it contained bad news and said so to Lanie. When I opened it I found that it was true. It read: "Pres[iden]t Woodruff died this morning in San Francisco. ave written you." It came so unexpected as I had heard such good reports from him. Everybody felt the loss of that good man. I went and saw Pres[iden]t Peterson. He felt sad to think the good president was gone and said:" I hope you brethren may be united and no split occur among you."
