[President Heber J. Grant Diary] I had a long visit with Frank Evans. We discussed the time when I was offered the nomination by the Legislature to be the Governor Utah, which honor I declined. I had explained to him my refusal to run and he had asked my advice as to whether he ought to run for the Senate when the Democrats were in control. I did not give him any actual advice, but I told him what I had done in my own case, and he followed my example and refused to accept the nomination. Afterwards the Democrats won and he would not have been elected if he had been nominated. He was glad he did not make the effort.
