[Joseph Smith] Joseph attends a city council and draws up a resolution thanking James Gordon Bennett for his "very liberal and unprejudiced course towards us as a people, in giving us a fair hearing in his paper." (History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (7 volumes) 4:477-78.)
