Katharine Smith Salisbury, Joseph Smith's sister testifies in an affidavit that "prior to the latter part of the year A.D. 1830, there was no person who visited with or was an acquaintance or called upon the said family or any member thereof, to my knowledge, by the name of Sidney Rigdon; nor was such person known to the family or any member thereof to my knowledge, until the last part of the year AD. 1830, or the first part of the year, 1831, and Sometime after the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ by Joseph Smith jr. and Several months after the publication of the Book of Mormon."
