Pres. [James G.] Duffin wrote that he was unable to get the temple lot at Independence for the sum of $24,500, which he had tendered, but he was still negotiating for same. There was no doubt, he said, that the purchase could be made for about $26,000. It became the sense of the council by vote that the purchase be made immediately at the best terms possible up to $26,000.
