On the morning of this day, in Preston, England, Elders Russell, Hyde, and Kimball have a terrible experience with the devil, being knocked about by an invisible force. They finally rebuke the evil spirit. At ten A.M. at the River Ribble they baptize nine members. George D. Watt runs a race with another for the honor of being the first to be baptized in England in this dispensation and wins; nine thousand spectators watch.
