[Apostle Anthony W. Ivins Diary] Quarterly meeting of Council of Twelve. Bro. Talmage said he thought Mission expense greater than necessary. The Twelve might do a little more missionary work on visits to the Stakes. Jos. F. Smith, Jr. followed in same strain. I followed. Discussed Mexican matters. Funeral services at Bro. Woodruff's grave. Extravagance of mission presidents. Colonization. Bro. McKay endorsed retrenchment in the missions, colonization and monument at Bro. Woodruff's grave. Bro. Whitney. We work too hard & too long. Favored stone for Bro. Woodruff's grave. Bro. Richards. Long. Proposed formal covenant before baptism. M. favored headstone for Bro. Woodruff's grave. Hyrum M. Smith, Did not favor the erection of headstones for graves of those who die, by the Church.
