Julie B. Beck delivers her General Conference talk "Mothers Who Know"

The talk sparked a furor in the Mormon Bloggernacle as many women rejected its emphasis on homemaking as a primary defining characteristic of motherhood. Mormon feminists found the talk reductive and sexist in its treatment of women and mothers. And many more mainstream Mormon women felt discouraged by its apparent emphasis on perfection in not only maintaining a home, but also in caring for children.
