Formation of the Department of Internal Communications with J. Thomas Fyans to head the department which was formally approved by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve nine days later. Its goal was to design a basic curriculum that could be easily translated into the languages of the world's nations. This department took over these responsibilities in the former All-Church Coordinating Council and the Executive Correlation Committee; its name was later changed to simply the Correlation Department. The primary responsibility of the new Correlation Department was to preserve doctrinal purity. Ultimately all writing in Church publications would have to pass through correlation before being published and distributed to the Church members.
