We are the More anxious to terminate our Teritorial form of Government on account of the appointing power vested in the President which enables him to fill our Offices with man of his own selection. ... We find with very few exceptions, that nonresident appointees have always been of that character whose chief delight and business is and has been to Stir up strife between us and the General Government by their foul and false Statements. ...
