[In priesthood meeting:] Pres[ident]. [Wilford] Woodruff spoke of the financial condition of the Church, and tried to explain the causes of the trouble. I say tried, because many of their speculations were not explained. Asked all those that had money to spare to loan it to the Trustee in Trust to assist the Church. Pres[ident] Jos[eph]. F. Smith explained if men would rebel they could go their way and he would goes his. If his children manifested this spirit and did not repent, they became to him as heathens.
