[Brigham Young]
[On moving west] We calculate to go three months journey into the wilderness - let every man learn to hold his tongue and I will say to you there are a great many good places not yet settled by whites - and large enough as England, France, etc. - There are many countries not yet explored - excellent islands well watered, good mill privileges - some say Vancouver Island is very fruitful, and would make an excellent beginning for a kingdom when we get ready to start we can say, we are from ev- ery place but this and we will soon be from this. but where we go we know not - Vancouver Island is perfectly healthy - plastered - outside - and if we should float down stream - we shall like to see them look well. -- Nauvoo, Illinois
