The President [Brigham Young] made some remarks about the character of Senator Steven A. Douglass. The Pres[ident] observed Joseph Smith told him if he ever lifted his heel against the latter day saints he would never have the Presidential chair. At this time if you saw Douglass, along his musings would be, Joseph told me if I lifted my heel against the Latter Day Saints I should never prosper; but I will prosper and I will get to be President of the United States yet. -- Salt Lake City
