[Apostle John Henry Smith Diary]
Honeyville, Box Elder County

President Rudger Clawson and his councilors. Madsen and Charles Kelley joined us here and we met with the Saints at 10 a.m.

The Bishop of the Ward has been suspended by the Presidency of the Stake and the sacrament withheld from the Saints on account of derision and strife.

... At 2 p.m. we got the Priesthood of the Ward together and made an effort at reconciliation, but we failed to reach any satisfactory result. At 3:30 p.m. all of the Saints met. Bros. Madsen, C. Kelly, Myself and Bro. H. J. Grant spoke on forgiveness and in casting aside our prejudice. A very good spirit was present with us.

The Priesthood met again at 7:30 p.m. and all finally agreed to forgive each other and put themselves in a position to take of the Sacrament. We tried to agree upon who should be Bishop but failed. We adjourned and will have to return.
