The Church News, after twenty-eight years without advertisements, begins advertising for such diverse enterprises as music stores, mortuaries, furniture stores, insurance agencies, banks, savings and loans, camera stores, jewelers, car dealerships, travel agencies, television repair, optical shops, and movie theaters. As the largest single advertisement, American Motors president George W. Romney features himself in a one-and-three-fourths-page spread for Kelvinator appliances on 20 June 1959. The Commercial ads cease after 24 Sept. 1960.
