The hunting companies organized last December, under John D. Lee and John Pack, met and counted their game. ... Total killed by both companies, 2 bears, 2 wolverines, 2 wild cats, 783 wolves, 409 foxes, 31 minx, [erasure], 9 eagles, 530 magpies, hawks, and owls, and 1026 ravens. This hunt proved of great benefit to the territory, in the destruction of so much vermin, and also in furnishing quills for the clerks for several years.
