[Spencer W. Kimball]
At 3 P.M. I attended the special meeting of the Council of the Twelve in which we excommunicated the woman [Anna Jacobsen] in the [Apostle Richard R.] Lyman case. Bro Widtsoe and I were appointed to talk further with her and to hear her story which we did immediately after the meeting. It was a sad story full of pathos. My sympathy went out to her in her distress.
[Lyman and Jacobsen had engaged in an unauthorized plural marriage relationship.]
