The first Mormon victim of the Nazi holocaust, Egon Engelbert Weiss in Vienna, Austria (recently annexed to Nazi Germany), writes desperate letters to eight returned missionaries in Utah and Idaho and to the First Presidency: "Conditions here are terrible for us Jewish people." He asks if the Presidency can make the necessary affidavit to enable his family to escape to America, signing the letter "your brother in the Gospel."
