To day is the General Election for Territorial and County officers

The candidates for the Legislature are as follows – for G. S. L. County –

Parley P. Pratt, Councillor to fill the vacancy of Orson Pratt resigned –

For Representatives.

1 J. M. Grant. 6 Hosea Stout

2 W. W. Phelps. 7 J. C. Little

3 H. B. Clawson. 8 S. W. Richards.

4 J. W. Cummings 9 Alex Mc[.] Rae

5 A. P. Rockwood 10 Danl Spencer.

11 Jos A. Young

The above were elected without a dissenting vote.

The Election passed off quietly But about dark an affair came off which caused considerable excitement, that was simply two young men, Emery Meecham & John Flack pitched aboard of one Joseph Troskieloskie with more zeal and ability than the poor Polander could endure and gave him a most unmerciful Horse whipping bruising & marring him very much

Troskieloskie in an employe of Mr Burr the surveyor general, for the United States[.] How this affair will come out I do not know[.] The law has been violated and the grieveance must be redressed –
