[President Heber J. Grant ] After lunch had a long interview with Preston D. Richards and Albert E. Bowen. They are both alarmed for fear Mr. Louis Bromfield, who has prepared the scenario for the Brigham Young picutre (sic) will have some very unfavorable comments as he was one of the committee that awarded the Harper Prize of $5,000 to a very unfavoarble (sic) book, the outstanding book of the year according to Harper-'Children of God.' This book gives an account of the Mormon people, Brigham Young, etc. is very unfavorable. I thought I would buy a copy of it, but Brother Bowen said he didn't think it would be worth my while to even read it that it is simply rotten. Colonel Joy of the Twentieth Century-Fox assured us that we should have a company of the story before the picture is made and we were given to understand in all our interviews with officials of the company that we would find nothing objectionable in the story . It was practically understood that we were to have the privilege of reading the story before the picture is completed.
