[President Heber J. Grant Diary] Sister Ellis L. Musser called and made an appeal to me to allow her to go to the temple to witness the marriage of her daughter. I told her I could not think of such a thing as overriding any decision that was made by the bishop and the president of her stake in regard to giving temple recommends. Unless the local authorities recommend people I would not think of doing such a thing. I feel very sorry for Sister Musser. I am sure she is in sympathy with her husband who took another wife after the declaration of President Smith, and he was excommunicated from the Church. In my heart of hearts I cannot help feeling that any woman who is in sympathy with a husband that has been excommunicated ought not to be recommended to the temple but I did not care to tell her as I did not wish to hurt her feelings.
