[President Heber J. Grant Diary] We decided on ... John H. Taylor to fill the vacancy in the First Council of the Seventy. Brothers John H. Taylor and Oscar A. Kirkham each received four or five votes from the brethren... Personally, I made no suggestions to anybody in favor of John H. Taylor, and I am very glad indeed that the brethren felt to call him to this position. ... I am very happy indeed that my son-in-law has been considered worthy to become one of the General Authorities of the Church.
