I spent the afternoon with President Brigham Young[,] D. H. Wells[,] G. A. Smith & A. Carrington we took dinner with President Young ['] in the course the conversation President Young said we must now go to work and find good hiding places to hide up old man woman & children and privisions. we want some place that cannot be taken ['] he gave his plan of a fort of defence if he had to make one here in the valley. He said he would recommend to b[e]gin to put up provisions he would recommend to lay up dry peas and beans, as they would keep longer than any other grain ['] we should have to get a place where we could get water that could not be got off by an Enamy.
