125 years ago today - Monday, Apr 6, 1896

The [political] manifesto [which requires all church officers to agree to obtain permission before seeking political office] last evening was signed by all of the Presidency, ten of the twelve, The Patriarch of the Church, the Seven Presidents of the Seventies & the Presiding Bishopric.

[Apostle] Moses Thatcher refused to sign it. [Anthon Lund was out of town.]

The Manifesto of the Church was adopted by a full vote of the Conference.

I[n] the sustaining of the general authorities the name of Moses Thatcher was left out.
