After meeting many friends shook my hand and offered congratulations and expressions of pleasure at my appointment. Many said they had thought I would be the man to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Apostle [Marriner Wood] Merrill among whom are the following'Loren J. Robinson saw it in dream. Pres[iden]t. [Francis M.] Lyman'Saw my Father in Council which meant something. Seymore B. Young W. W. Richards Joseph F[ielding]. Smith Jr. R. J. Richards Susa Y. Gates Tho[ma]s. Callister Mamie Whitney Dunn Edna Smith John Smith John Gillespie Sister Remington My dream of March 22nd wherein I saw the Savior seems to have prepared me in a measure for this call. I received a telegram from my brother F[ranklin]. S. Richards, who was in Washington [D.C.]
also one from Apostle Reed Smoot at Washington offering congratulations, blessings, &c'These came the day following.
