[Apostle Heber J. Grant]
I confessed to [a friend] that I felt that I had been neglectful of my duty as an apostle in the past and had devoted too much time to business affairs. I had deceived myself into feeling that I was doing my full duty because I attended as many if not more meetings in the different wards and stakes of Zion than any of the other members of my Quorum, except Francis M. Lyman. I explained that when I was chosen to be an apostle seventeen years ago to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Orson Pratt that I had not been impressed with the great labors which Brother Pratt had accomplished. He had died leaving his family destitute.
