170 years ago today - Thursday, Apr 5, 1849

The Council, on the 5th of April, appointed William Clayton and Thomas Bullock auditors of public accounts. A letter was written to Samuel Brannan, San Francisco, desiring him to forward, by Elder A[masa] Lyman, his tithing and $20,000 dollars in gold dust for me [Brigham Young] and the same amount for my counsellors.
