[Franklin D. Richards]
Bro[ther, /apostle]. Jno. [John] [W.] Taylor being deeply indebted, having bought 600,000 acres in Alberta, Canada, & having most of still on his hands & thinking of getting in a Colony of Polish German to locate on it may jeopardize the welfare and even the existence of Cardston [Canada]. John W. Young's similar moves in Mexico were sorely depreciated; & were with Br[other] Taylors seriously reviewed.
[Franklin D. Richards Diary, as quoted in Minutes of the Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1910-1951, Privately Published, Salt Lake City, Utah 2010]
