On Monday the Twelve sat in Council on the cases of [suspended apostle] M[atthias]. F. Cowley and John W. Woolley, but failed to bring out evidence enough to justify the Council in taking action against Bro[ther]. Cowley, although some things went to indicate that he was responsible for Bro[ther]. [John] Woolley's operations. Action was taken against Bro[ther]. Woolley on his own confession and he was excommunicated from the Church, but he wanted to share the responsibility of his transgression with Bro[ther]. Cowley. Bro[ther]. Cowley denied everything, and was willing to take an oath that he had not encouraged anybody to enter plural marriage since action was taken on his case. ...
