[J. Golden Kimball]
I am at present troubled regarding the principle of plural marriage, notwithstanding the 'manifesto' and the dangers that would come from rendering obedience to that principle. My wife is not converted to my obeying the law although it gave us an existance. I can appreciate the dangers of obeying it and yet I am troubled in my mind, and cannot free myself from the thought that I should in some inconceivable way obey the same. My father entered into that principle under very much more trying circumstances and why should I be cowardly and not meet death for that principle if necessary.
