Today I had occasion to go to the President's office, and while there in the presence of Prests Grant, Clerk and McKay, Pres. Grant informed me that the Presidency are still undecided upon a Patriarch to the Church [the former Patriarch had died February 4, 1932] and that they have decided to release me and Sister Richards from presiding in the Salt Lake Temple and have me attend to the work of the Patriarch to the Church until such time as a Presiding Patriarch to the Church may be chosen, the change in my appointment to take place at the end of this month. I was privileged to inform my wife of this action on the part of the Presidency. President Grant said that the Presidency think that some one other than one of the Twelve should preside in the Temple and that he should not feel of think it a life job. Changes may take place from time to time.
