Following the logic of the Mormon de-emphasis of Christ's atonement (the atonement leading to a near-universal salvation but not to exaltation to divinity), Brigham Young suggested Adam was the father of Christ: "Jesus our elder Brother, was the begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven." Later Young would suggest Adam-Michael was the son and grandson of higher gods, Elohim and Jehovah. [JD 1:59-1]
