President Smith informed the council that Brother M[ahonri]. M. Young was at present out of employment, that he had produced by use of the death mask what was considered a very good likeness in clay of the Prophet Joseph [Smith], and the question arose now as to whether the talents of Brother Young could be used consistently

and profitably by the Church.

Some of the brethren remarked that they would much like to see produced a life-sized statue of the Prophet Joseph.

The President said that Brother Young had told me that to produce the model referred to in larger size would take him six months, and President Winder now moved that the Trustee-in-Trust be authorized to engage the services of Brother Young for six months on such work as the President may direct. Motion seconded and carried. ...
