Proposition 22 passes in California. There were 4.6 million votes (61%) for and 2.9 million votes (39%) against. (For comparison, there were 5.4 million votes (52%) for Prop 8 and 4.9 million votes (48%) against Prop 8.) Wirthlin Worldwide, a company founded by Richard B. Wirthlin, was paid about $87,000 for travel and survey work during the election process and Lawrence Research was paid $3,500 for surveys on behalf of the Yes on 22 campaign.
