...A letter was read from President Alma O. Taylor of the Japanese Mission, dated 9th ult., stating in effect that the translation of the Book of Mormon was now finished, and all references inserted down to the end of 3rd Nephi, 3rd chapter, and the first part of the translation had gone to the printer. Brother Taylor also stated that he had been thinking for some time that, after completing his work on the publication, that he would like to visit China and Korea for the purpose of getting an idea of conditions in those countries, as he had been led to believe that opportunities for missionary work were superior to those in Japan.
It was the sense of the Council, on motion of Brother John Henry Smith, that permission be given to Brother Taylor to visit China and Korea, as contemplated by him, and on motion of Brother Heber J. Grant it was thought well for Brother Fred Caine to accompany him. ...
